12 - Davarn House Hotel and Saloon 1878

Burned in 1919. This was when the roads were still dirt and the only municipal water came from a pump handle in the center of the intersection between Main, Elm and Pleasant street. The spelling of “Davarn” may have been changed to “Davern” over the years. Many names were spelled based on pronunciation or were slowly modified after immigrant families moved away from their native language and adopted american english.
